Slow Fade

Updated: Mar 22, 2020

Casting Crowns recorded a song titled Slow Fade. This song talks about what happens when we compromise God’s values, when we accept sin in exchange for status or personal satisfaction.

When we were young our parents were true guardians of our hearts and minds. They wouldn’t allow us to listen to certain types of music, watch certain programs or even listen in on adult conversations.

Little by little as we grew up we began allowing ourselves to let down our guard so we wouldn’t be looked upon as a prude or be called a “goody two shoes” or even an extremist.

At some point we allowed what others thought of us to spear head our own moral decay. We may not even be able to think back to the time it actually began but we can all agree we allowed it to happen.

The good news is we can get back. All we have to do is begin setting boundaries, protect our hearts and minds. Stop compromising for the sake of being accepted by others. Jesus was rejected too.

The truth is we’re not being persecuted, because no one has any reason to. We are fitting right in with this world of sin. We laugh at dirty jokes, swear, lie, watch movies filled with sin, we act on our desires and wonder why God is not blessing us. Why is God so distant? Sin separates us from God.

I would like to encourage you today to take up your cross and follow Jesus. With no more regard for what others may think of us or say about us. To guard our hearts even if that means losing some people we have called friends and family. Even if it feels like we are missing out on a good movie or an event or even the fellowship with those we have become close to.

Jesus wants better for us than that and he deserves better than we have given him. We have sold him out for far too long.

This is true. So many negative people out there. One you think is your friend but they do mean things to you.
