When reading about the girl that was thought to be dead.
What stood out to me and brought me to tears was when Jesus spoke to the girl in Mark 5:41 He said “Damsel, I say to unto thee, arise” It hit me, Jesus had told them she wasn’t dead she was only sleeping and I have to confess to you I have been spiritually asleep.
My heart has not been broken for the lost as it should be, I have not read God’s word as I should, my prayer life is nothing like it should be, my faith has been weak and not believing God would come to my rescue.
Then I heard Jesus say, “Damsel, I say unto thee, arise” I felt my spirit begin to awaken, tears began to flow and I realized the things I confessed to you about not reading God’s word as I should or praying like I should is the result of my weakened faith.
God tells us he is a rewarder of those that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6 Jeremiah 29:13 says “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all of your heart.
No wonder I had become asleep spiritually. I was not seeking God and especially not with all my heart. I am so thankful for his word that corrects us. His word is alive, and it can revive what has become dead.
We can only grow spiritually when we are alive, spiritually awakened. The first step is to realize our spiritual state. Then allow Jesus to say to us “Damsel, I say unto thee, arise!”
