A Way of Escape

God never tempts us. As we know from James 1:13 God cannot be tempted with evil and he does not tempt us.

The word of God calls satan a thief in John 10:10 and tells us that he has come to steal from us, kill and destroy us. He is able to steal our joy, our peace and even our faith if we allow it. He will kill us through sin but not before he has destroyed our lives, our homes, our children, and our testimonies.

Jesus was tempted also. He knows what it feels like and he promised he wouldn't allow us to tempted beyond what we could bear. The good news is God is all power and he made us a promise in 1 Corinthians 10:13 He promised he would make a way of escape. It is up to us to take that escape though.

If we are tempted to cheat on our spouse, even in the middle of a heated moment the phone may ring, or some distraction will occur that gives us that split second moment to turn our back on desire and walk away.  The best way to avoid temptation is not allow ourselves to be in that situation but if we have flirted with sin we will be given an opportunity to choose different before we commit.

An escape hatch doesnt stay open, it takes an effort to open it and walk through it. The escape hatch may be narrow and uncomfortable for a moment and it may be that you have to crawl out to safety.

We can choose to allow satan to steal, kill and destroy our lives or take the escape that Jesus promised he would provide and leave with the only true peace we will ever know. The peace that passes all understanding. The peace that only Jesus can give us. John 14:27 You will never regret taking the way of escape.
